Never Surrender

Based on the true events of Ari van Bengal, a boy from Northern India abducted by Dutch seafarers in the late 1600s. Transported to the Cape Dutch Colony in South Africa, Ari was sold into bondage, just as his father had been years earlier.
Ari's life as a slave is a relentless struggle against an unjust system. During his time serving wealthy Dutch families, Ari experiences untold suffering at the hands of landowners and higher authorities. Unexpected friendships buoy him over the years, but the love of a woman is the greatest gift in Ari's life. Love can't rescue him from his fate, though.
Ari's story may have passed into the annals of lost history, as thousands of others' have from this era at the Cape of Good Hope, except for one fateful decision. While participating in an impromptu crime of retaliation, Ari is caught and arrested.
Ari publicly refuses to comply with the demands of the morally compromised governor, Wilhem Adriaan van der Stel. Despite the various torture tactics, and stripped of all dignity, Ari maintains a level of courage few people possess.
He will not accept the words of those who denigrate him, who steal his identity, his freedom, his right to choose how he will live and who he will love. He may not win this fight, but he will not surrender.
