My Uncomprehending Wife

My uncomprehending wife is a love story between Alexander and Patricia Achebe. After ten years of being married Alex saw drastic changes in his wife that almost led to a divorce and both extended families had to come to the rescue.

In her defence, Patricia explained to her husband that she thinks she and him had not had an open and honest communication over the years. It was just she saying yes and him saying no all the time. Or him giving the orders and she obeying like a little child. It got to a point that she kept on telling herself, she should just endure until this marriage clocked ten years then maybe she would understand him or understand the relationship or discover herself again. She felt like ten years was the goal she needed to reach to know if this marriage was working or not.

Sadly, when their marriage clocked ten years she felt empty and she just wanted to leave and find herself again. But on the eleventh year of their marriage after a lot of struggles, Patricia discovered that she "thought she wasn't happy" not that she was unhappy. And they both vowed to stay together and make their marriage last a lifetime!
