One notable example occurred in 2007, when his work attracted the attention of a U.S. congressman seeking guidance for a personal family matter. This book documents and examines a rare cross-border medical consultation that took place in August 2007 between U.S. Congressman John McHugh and Dr. Aamir Jalal Al-Mosawi during the Congressman's official visit to Baghdad. Initiated after the Congressman identified Dr. Al-Mosawi's published research on achondroplasia, the consultation arose from a personal family medical concern and was conducted under significant security constraints, with coordination by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
