Her latest case involves a Milwaukee-based woman who is looking for her Chicago-based father. Marta has her own daddy issues to deal with as she is still on the outs with her father (Marta is still mad at her dad about an old secret he kept from his family.

Further highlighting paternity is a sleuthing case that Marta gets pulled into - one that is so sensitive and dangerous that it affects at least two of Marta's friends.

Keeping Marta close to her family is the nightly viewing party of the Puerto Rican soap opera titled ¿Quién Ama a Ana Luz? - Who loves Ana Luz? Marta gets sucked into the fictional character's soapy story, even while Marta's love life and sleuthing activities rival the TV show for high drama.
