Mark's Gospel was written in a time of intense persecution under Emperor Nero, when Christians faced brutal suffering. It was a beacon of hope then, and it remains just as urgent and life-giving today.

Out of the four Gospels, Mark is the shortest-but don't mistake brevity for insignificance. Many scholars believe it was the first Gospel written, serving as a foundation for Matthew, Luke, and John. In other words, this is the OG Gospel.
