Managing the Creative Mind explores techniques in§managing a team of technicians for the production of§The Taming of the Shrew. It is also a documentation§of a Technical Director s process. More than the§organization of the project, it focuses on the§people. I wanted to experience what made the§technicians tick and test my theories on motivation§and efficiency. I kept a log of conversations and§happenings for each of the people involved in the§production. I made assignment decisions based on my§reaction to their personalities and experience. The§goal was to make people excited to be there and, in§turn, produce a forward thinking, can-do environment§where the production would run itself. Included is a§script analysis, statement of goals, process,§evaluation, technical drawings, paperwork and§photographs.
