Managing Corruption

Let me ask you a few questions to gauge the level of your corruption: Have you ever enlisted a disloyal family member to assist with cooking, cleaning, or babysitting, all while pledging to your parents that you would take care of them and ensure they attended school like your own children? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you ever taken advantage of the less fortunate, those below your class, in your daily activities? If you had, then you're corrupt.

Have you ever taken the properties of family members and willed them to your family upon death? If so, that could be considered unethical. Have you used your influence to get whatever you want when others didn't have the same privilege or opportunity? If you did, then you're corrupt. Have you ever taken advantage of your innocent housemaids, forced them to have sex with you, and then blamed it on your loveless marriage or alcohol, or said, "I just can't control myself"? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you ever harassed or demanded a date or sex from students for grades? If you have or are thinking about it, then you're corrupt. Have you witnessed others making the lives of others miserable or taking advantage of their ignorance, and you didn't say or do anything? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you known or seen someone being taken advantage of, and you didn't lift a finger to help? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you ever delayed or played games with promoting your subordinates when they earned the promotion(s)? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you made sure only your children and your associates' children have the opportunity to attend better schools? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you arranged to place your children and close associates on the throne of your empire after your tenure in office? If you did, then you're corrupt. Have you hated another person for the heck of it? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you blamed someone else for all your troubles? If you had, then you're corrupt.
Are you self-sufficient, living beyond your means, and having your own water system (borehole), your own electricity (diesel or ordinary generator), and your own moderately safe environment (gated community) when the rest of the citizens don't have any of them? If you are, then you're corrupt. Have you ignored others who woke up and slept under constant fear of robbers and kidnappers while armed guards protected you? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you traveled anywhere with bodyguard(s) and roads cleared ahead of you, while the rest of the citizens will have to wait for you, the almighty, to pass? If you had, then you're corrupt.

Have you ever paid less than the market value to a poor little child selling plantains or fresh corn on the side of the road because they don't know any better? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you ever driven around and seen dilapidated schools with unqualified teachers educating the less-than-whole citizens, and you didn't do anything because your children will never attend such schools? If you had, then you're corrupt. Have you ever been dishonest, lied, manipulated, undermined others, and cheated as much as you could? If you had, then you're corrupt.
