This new collection by Portland poet Greg Simon illustrates his sweeping
involvement in American and world poetry for over six decades; stories he learned
from the men and women he met, and his travels to California, Iowa, France,
Nicaragua, Norway and Spain. The book is an "idea-o-logue of poetry and a
travelogue of life" as a poet and translator.
Greg Simon was born in Minnesota, but has lived most of his life in the Pacific
Northwest. He was educated in Seattle, Iowa City, and Palo Alto, and has an MFA in
Creative Writing from Stanford University. He is the co-translator, with Steven F.
White and Christopher Maurer, of Federico Garcia Lorca's Poeta en Nueva York,
published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux in 1988. Other Simon/White collaborations
include books of poetry by Gaston Baquero (Cuba), Pablo Antonio Cuadra
(Nicaragua), and Ruben Dario (Nicaragua). He has been a contributing and
translation editor for Porch, White Pine Press, The Salt River Review, and Trask
House Books. In 2018 he published a book of sonnets, Follow Her, with Cave Moon
Press. He lives and works in an old wooden house above the west bank of the
Willamette River in Portland, Oregon.
