"Before time or distance, hope or purpose, there was the Great Wyron, Chaos, whom the Fay called Néloch. Her vastness spanned the void, and she held terrible sway." So opens Ümbartum, the Book of Beginning.
Liñulïe Tales is the origin story of the immortal Fay, children of the old gods who threw down Néloch and made the Fay wardens of the wild, beautiful, fearful world they had created from the wreck of the Wyron. It tells tales of courage pitted against treachery. It speaks of the lost and the redeemed. It imagines love that is born in a moment and lives a thousand years.
Two decades before the author published his epic saga, The Thirteenth Essene, he wrote Liñulïe Tales. The twenty-four stories of Liñulïe Tales embody the myth, folklore, culture, and language that would give life to the story of The Cambirils, restore The Fianwë oath, and foreshadow the ultimate destiny of The Fay. These stories are for the world of Liñulïe what The Kalevala was for the Finns and what the poems of Gilgameshwere for the ancient Sumerians. Most of all, Liñulïe Tales is a collection of stories about good and evil and outcomes that can never be certain but whose pursuit must never be abandoned.
Because of mysteries revealed in Liñulïe Tales, it is best read after completing the three volumes of The Thirteenth Essene
