La Artista

Joana Bartoli is a Spanish celebrity actress who is new to Hollywood. After reaching top fame thanks to her role in a comedic box-office film trilogy in her country, she secretly despises these achievements, loathes those corny scripts, and wishes she could pursue her true passion, painting and the fine arts. This is a dream that could come true when she starts an artist residency at the mysterious and inaccessible Chateau Marmont, in the heart of Hollywood. There, she will meet a group of eccentric personalities, like famous painter Vicente Escobar and American movie star -and enfant terrible- Cindy Lauren. They will help Joana navigate her whirlwind romance with British actor, James Butler, at the beginning of his Oscar race, as well as her relationship with the reputed publicist, Rachel Simpson, who will steer Joana through show business and try to turn her into the next big star.

"La Artista" touches upon the history of Hollywood, the ins and outs of the entertainment industry, and its repercussion in the celebrity culture of the early 2000s, through a literary narrative centered on the iconic landmark in Sunset Boulevard. Diana Lado offers a fiction dedicated to pure escapism, a review of fame in the creative world, with touches of social commentary, irony, and humor, that mixes beauty with sensuality, the arts, nature, and the pleasures of life, following closely the truths and deepest yearnings of its characters.
