Wales,1118. Kinstrife is an immersive tale of family conflict, vengeance, forbidden love, and survival in a divided land, where war is pursued with little thought for its consequences, serving pride, vanity, and ambition more readily than justice. Based on actual people and events, it follows King Gruffydd, who has spent a lifetime securing Gwynedd through courage, endurance, and war. When battle descends on his kingdom, enemies rise on every side: Powys, Norman forces, and rival factions within Gwynedd itself.
At the heart of the storm stands the royal house. Queen Angharad remains steadfast beside Gruffydd, while their children are drawn ever deeper into peril: Gwenllian's burning passion for her husband, the displaced Prince Griffith, puts the whole family at risk, while Annest's love for a married man unleashes jealousy and bitterness that may prove as deadly as the sword.
Even among Gruffydd's sons, enmity rises: Cadwallon the heir, Owain the strategist, and Cadwaladr the youngest are drawn into bitter division, while the rift between father and sons deepens. Old hatreds stir. Gronwy ap Owain is a danger close to home. Lady Marged is bent on the royal family's destruction. Mal burns for revenge.
Then Richard, Earl of Chester, arrives without warning, threatening everything Gruffydd has fought to preserve. As war, ambition, and betrayal tighten around them, the bonds of blood are tested to breaking point.
