John's Revelation

The author should be commended for his approach to Revelation in this book. In an era where prominent commentaries of Revelation focus on exegetical issues and neglect the historical aspect, Urrutia's commentary reminds us that the ultimate purpose of Revelation is to interpret the historical reality that the text describes. Those unfamiliar with the historicist interpretation of Revelation (and the reality it describes) will nd in this book a magnicent introduction. Those who are knowledgeable will nd in it a very good synthesis that will allow them to easily place all the "pieces" together into the amazing puzzle that is Revelation. No doubt "John's Revelation" will be a blessing for all those who want to understand this part of Scripture, but especially for those who cling with hope to the promise that Jesus, its central character, oers us through it: "Surely I am coming quickly." This book is an invitation to respond to this promise as it is done in the Epilogue of the book: "Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!" (Rev. 22:20 NKJV).

Some have claimed that the book of Revelation is the place where all the books of the Bible converge. This intriguing statement contains two implications: that to understand Revelation requires a thorough study of all Scripture. But also, that the consummation of all things, especially the second coming of Jesus Christ and the redemption of mankind, is recorded in its pages. Hector Urrutia's work meets these expectations. Its author, illuminated by the Spirit, oers us a succinct and clarifying investigation, with a remarkable intertextual look typical of those who thoroughly excavate the dierent layers of the text, with a hermeneutic capable of covering the smallest details to illuminate the entire landscape. Within the book "John's Revelation: What everyone should know", the most solemn warnings ever written will be elucidated in order to "remove the veil" ("Revelation"), and prepare us to enter with the Lamb through the gates of the New Jerusalem.
