Italo! is a rumour-packed melodrama, documenting the history of Italo disco music. Our guide through this exciting time is a former socialite whose occasionally factual account blends with rumour, speculation and complete fabrication as he tells the story of the fall of Italo disco music, the artists that made it great, and its evolution into diverse musical styles in the late 80s and early 90s. Whether they know it or not, these artists are controlled by the mysterious Japanese cartel known as Sagi-tekina Ongaku, whose media stranglehold has turned the saccharine but earnest sentiment of Italo into a money-making powerhouse, from radio in Rome to the downtown Manhattan club scene to high-end parties in Tokyo and beyond.
