Inference and Elucidation is an interdisciplinary book of semiotic theory, cultural anthropology, and art theory developed by Abdel Hernandez San Juan, theoretician, art critic and anthropologist of cuban origin, author of books of philosophy, social sciences such as The World Correlate: Interpretant and Structure in Posmodern Cultural Theory, Thinking Science: New Phenomenological Avenues between Philosophy and Sociology, The Enigmas of Ground: Introduction to Semiological Sociology, The Museum Methonymies: The Textual Exegesis of Visual Culture between Semiotic Theory and Posmodern Anthropology, The Subject in Creativity: New Ways to the Anthropology of Art and of art criticism such as The Interpretation of Art: An Anthropological Approach to Contemporary Venezuelan Art, between others, and Alessandro Morganti Debra, Italo/France Social Archaeologist of Italian origin, coauthor of Hunters and Gatherers of Monte Cano, Paraguana with Maria Elena Rodriguez.
The book is focused in developing and exploring the theoretical frames to new paths, innovative and original interdisciplinary avenues of research between semiotic theory and hermeneutic between art theory and social archaeology as field, the project particularly is a conjunction of both theoretical and empirical materials that includes Abdel Hernandez San Juan urban and rural fieldwork as well as his Art Criticism on contemporary Art, and Alessandro Morganti Archaeological Fieldwork on prehistorical prehispanic culture, the project originally born through a meeting about anthropological approach to a contemporary art installation focused in emigrant subjectivities, both Hernandez and Morganti are emigrants and they committed themself with exploring a research project on this subject mixing elements of Abdel Hernandez San Juan phenomenological theory on self and acervo to cultural theory and analysis, and morganti expertises in archaeology while the project evolutioned to move beyond its initial parameters to be extended in general as a major, pivotal one to the merging new field of art and anthropology.
