The six disciplines of sobriety were given to Marvin, as he
says, "they were just put into my head." For several nights in a
row. I would suddenly wake up at 4 am with these ideas playing
in my head. The Material in Chapter one, which outlines
the six disciplines was simply put into the author's head,
and he recorded those ideas as if he were taking dictation.
This book has only a very few references from other works
on alcoholism. That is because most of this material came
from my own experiences and from what I learned about
alcoholism at meetings. Repeatedly, in these pages, the reader
is reminded that no sane reason exists to delay launching your
own lifelong program of sobriety.
