A guinea fowl, also known simply as a guinea, is a type of bird that belongs to the family Numididae. Originating in Africa, these birds have a distinct look and set of calls. The body of a Guinea fowl is round and plump, but the head is small and topped with a bony casque that resembles a helmet. They are able to blend in with their surroundings thanks to their spotted or speckled plumage.
• For their meat and eggs, Guinea fowls are commonly raised as poultry. They serve a useful use in pest control since they eat ticks, insects, and other parasites. In addition to eating, guinea fowls are also kept as pets and as ornamental birds.
• The early morning hours and mating season are peak times for Guinea fowls to make their loud and distinctive sounds. Flocks of these gregarious birds are the norm rather than the exception.
