This is a collection of Poems by Jin Zhong, translated from the Chinese by the author. Jin Zhong, pen name of Jone Guo, graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University and got his master's degree in 1991. He went on exile to the United States in 1991, now lives in San Diego, California.
Green Leaf Dairy is a poetry collection written between 1981 and 1986 in Harbin, northern China. Composed in short, restrained poems, the book traces the passage of time through snow, wind, water, light, and quiet observation.
Neither confessional nor narrative, these poems approach time as a living element-something that drifts, gathers, and returns. Memory appears not as recollection but as atmosphere.
Dedicated to Ruta, the collection offers time itself as a gift-attentive, fragile, and unclaimed.
This is an early work, yet marked by a calm precision that resists nostalgia, allowing the poems to stand in the present tense of reading.
Jin Zhong also transalted many Chinese poets, such as Duo Duo, Wang Jiaxin, and Zhiwen. He is also the translator of Joseph Brodsky, Anne Sexton, Emily Dickinson, etc.
