The children at North Union are at risk of having a sad Christmas. Santa, in search of an Elf Apprentice for the Ringsted, Iowa region, calls Grandma Jo. This book describes her interview and then shares the plan developed by Santa and Grandma Jo to save Christmas for the North Union School children. This story is based on the real connection the North Union students have to the North Pole for the past five years. What started as a pilot project, has developed into an annual event. Students now recognize her at ballgames or other community gatherings, reminding them they never know who else might be working for Santa and to always be at their best.
