Gardens of Blood

Blood Magic curses, missing schoolmates, and non-human riots threaten the stability of a small city nestled between two rivers. Teens Haywood and Waylon embark on an adventure to solve the mystery of their missing schoolmates and explore a world of magic, mystery, and danger. Their determination to impress girls and find adventure will draw them into the heart of unrest threatening to topple the city.

Decize was once a bustling regional power driven by the power of the Foundry and the salvage mines that have since gone dry. Though it remains the hub of the Empire's breadbasket economic decay settled over the proud white-stone city like a Blight. The brightest and wealthiest children attend the Hill School; a school where four children have gone missing.

Haywood and his best friend Waylon embark on a reckless journey to break free Haywood's crush and solve the mystery of their missing classmates. They'll uncover a sinister outcast that might endanger them all. Will Haywood learn enough about his magic to combat the raw power of a heretical blood mage? Will they save any of their missing classmates?

Join Haywood Vale as he struggles to reconcile his parent's hesitation with studying magic instead of mechanics, his turbulent struggles at school with bullies, and his guilt over doing nothing.  They'll meet elves, ogres, and orcs in their journey to solve the mystery of the missing children and maybe find love along the way.

Haywood studies magic rooted in gardening at the Triune Divine. Their magics are terrifyingly complex, and vastly more horrifying than he could ever have imagined. The world is alive with a thousand different magics and its constantly billowing against ancient mechanics, and new technologies. A world-wide human hegemony rules the globe but simmering tensions between non-humans and humans spills into Decize's streets during the summer Eye Festival.  Haywood will have to navigate racial tensions, political intrigue, and a family that wishes he'd simply work hard with his hands.
