Future Sent is a collection of poems written between the ages of fifteen and twenty-four and published more than fifty years later. Preserved largely as they were first written, these poems capture a young voice shaped by faith, scripture, myth, history, and a deep desire to understand the world and the self. The work reflects the urgency and searching quality of youth-its spiritual questioning, wonder, and intensity-without the benefit or interference of hindsight.
Rather than revising the poems into a contemporary voice, the author presents them as a message sent forward in time. A newly written introductory poem frames the collection, inviting the reader into a dialogue between past and present, between who the poet was and who now receives these words decades later.
