This book investigates the construction of heroism within Hamlet and The Lion King; based upon the numerous similarities between the Shakespearean play and the Disney animated movie. Psychoanalytical perspectives- such as Lacan's concept of The Other, and the Mirror Stage- will be employed to analyse heroism. Moreover, other representations of Hamlet will be examined through the use of film theories. There has also been a change in the pattern of Disney heroes through the years, and this book presents a completely new concept of heroism. It englobes various categories of heroism in order to situate Simba and Hamle.
