This book draws on Science and Technology Studies (STS) and recent developments in anthropology to understand computer security as yet another instantiation of post-modern uncertainty. Computer security, the author argues, is part of living in the Anthropocene - an age of damaged more-than-human relations. Investigating computer security as a "monster" of post-modernity counteracts narratives that purport technical innovation as solution to anthropogenic climate change and political crisis. Including computer (in)security in STS and anthropological thinking advances collective repertoires of concepts and methods of living in uncertain times. The book suggests alternative ways to handle computer security, rooted in ethnographic observations.
