This is a near-future fictional United States based on the reality of what could be the fracturing of us now. You will see up close how these operations are created and implemented. A former government agent helped build the system. She has spent 17 years planning to turn that power against the country that silenced her lover. A computer engineer creates the psych ops from his apartment in Palo Alto, California. A National Guard member has to choose whether her oath belongs to the federal government or to the states she serves. A former minister who has lost his faith in the middle of the fracture runs a pop-up urgent care clinic in the basement of his former church. Refugees and violence move through his city in the foothills as the Ogallala Aquifer collapses around them.
