Set in 1980/90's England, this entertaining story, being the sequel to the amusing book, For A Few Pennies More, continues with Charley's first ever encounter with the banks to request funding for a speculative building project for 6 new mock Tudor-style houses.
Initially, the pompous old bank manager made Charley feel like a worthless vagrant, after a bowl of soup and a bed for the night! Thinking it would be easier to put a loaded shotgun to his head, Charley stood up to end the meeting, uttering words that instantly, made the doddery old manager cut the crap; make him some tea, and open the safe door!
Filled with daily dramas, Charley went from strength to strength, building and winning major housing awards. After twenty long hard years of struggling, he had finally made it! But then, like a bad dream, the bubble burst. Bank interest rates hit a massive 15% triggering the onset of early 1990's recession. The pound plummeted! Mortgages dried up! And the whole building industry just collapsed like a pack of cards, leaving Charley paying a fortune to maintain his overdraft - not to mention, the double poll tax on each of the ten new award-winning houses that he couldn't even give away!

With no light at the end of the tunnel, the future was looking depressingly bleak! Even Charley's magic crystal ball clouded over! While many ran for the hills, Charley took a massive gamble by increasing his overdraft and purchasing an enormous semi-derelict, 400-year-old listed building with outline planning approval to convert into eight luxury flats. Steeped in history, the building came with its very own resident ghost - the local rumours were rife, often vividly speaking of a troubled being roaming the property. All the scary talk made for a hilarious conversion for Charley and the boys on site; they all laughed heartedly, until that is, the dusk fell!
