A delightful rhyming picture book about self-esteem, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and moving on.
Fillip, an optimistic fly hibernating in a fir tree, woke up in Nana's Christmas tree. He thought the festive table was a picnic made for him.
"Then, grinning, Fillip spread his wings and launched into the air. His sleepy brain and wobble-flight gave Nana one BIG scare!"
"Mucho gusto!" Fillip said and landed on a cake. It was Nana's mantecada - butter, sugar, bake!"
How do you get rid of an unwelcome guest who is sitting on your cake? Nana had a clever solution. Can you do what Nana did?
Backmatter includes a recipe for mantecadas, short history of mantecadas, and a fun page of fly facts.
Beta readers have likened Tarja Nevala's literary style to Julia Donaldson and Mem Fox.
Similar stories include Estelle Take a Bath by Jill Esbaum, and Tiny Little Fly by Michael Rosen
