I thought I'd find myself in this position: spending a weekend at a luxurious cabin, pretending to be someone's boyfriend. But that's exactly what I signed up for when my brother Jon invited me to a couples-only trip up in the Starlight Hills Mountains ten years ago. The catch? I had to convince Grace Meadows, the girl I used to torment back in middle school, to be my fake date. Not exactly my ideal way to start a holiday weekend, but here I am.
Grace is nothing like the girl I remember from grade school. She's smart, independent, and has a guard up that I can't seem to break through. The same girl I used to mess with now has me questioning everything. I never expected to feel this drawn to her, especially after everything that went down between us in the past.
But there's more at play than just our chemistry. Grace's past is complicated, and some people don't seem to want her to move on. As the weekend unfolds, I'm forced to face more than just my feelings for her. Protecting her from the past and figuring out where we stand is starting to feel like the most important thing.
