In their final year of VCE in Melbourne's west, Madheng Deng and his twin brother Garang are carrying more than exams. They are carrying the weight of family sacrifice, South Sudanese history, migrant ambition, and the promise of a future their parents fought to make possible.

The Deng family buys its first home after years of survival, saving, night shifts, and faith. Outside Science Room 4, Madheng meets Ameer Dhang - a calm, brilliant new girl whose presence unsettles every rule he has built his life around.
