DVLON's Path

My name is Kade. I was not, nor am I, a 'Gamer'. I never played. Ever. Well, that's not entirely true. I do remember an old table top version of Space Invaders taking more than a few of my hard earned quarters while I waited for my burger and fries at Dave's Burger Shack. I never really took to it. But it was a way to kill some time while perfection was being made behind those wooden swinging doors hiding the kitchen. You could just tell that all the images and stereotypes of a greasy backroom diner became grossly alive behind those dirty hand imprinted off-white doors. I'm sure at one time the swinging doors were as white as virgin snow. But now everything had the pale of a two dollar blowjob, a little off and discomforting. As long as the Health Inspector stayed away I would continue to live in blind abyss and wantonly enjoy my Double Spaz burger with Texas cut fries with homestyle gravy. But yes, that is really the only time I ever considered playing a, game.I probably couldn't name 3 popular RPGs even if prompted. I'm not even sure if RPG is the right name to call them. They're advertised everywhere and I have to admit they look pretty cool but they never appealed to me. Of course in my down moments I longingly saw myself as that bold Alien space commander shooting up the universe with my crew of oddball misfits. Be something different, for a while. But, after all it's still just a game and no matter how well the CG was becoming, I couldn't wrap my head around the stiff plastic looking avatars. Give me real-real or go home. Burgers are real. Acoustic guitars are real. So is a jazz trio set in a dark stanky piano bar backing up a sultry voiced nightingale with the body of Jessica Rabbit. Real. Maybe that's why it never occurred to me that I might be taken so far away, so very far from what I trusted most. My reality.
