This book discusses "Takalani Sesame" the South African version of "Sesame Street", the famed American children's television programme. Its focus is on the interaction between the dramatic elements of the programme and its educative content. The use of muppets as characters, the creation of storylines that communicate favorably to pre-schoolers and an analysis of lyrics from the programme are discussed. The book is important to scholars within the area of pre-school education as well as those within drama in education ambit. It is also suitable for those interested in HIV/AIDs awareness campaigns - especially through television as it considers the weighty question of how pre-schoolers can be engaged in what sometimes may be deemed taboo subjects. Students of drama, music, movement, dance, and puppetry will benefit greatly from this work.
