Betrayed by her coach, a championship surfer relocates to an East Coast boarding school, hoping to keep her identity a secret, but no matter how deep in the ocean she thought she left her past, it threatens to resurface and drown her again.

In California, Masyn is known as Ace Madden, the up-and-coming surfer representing the Rip Tide brand and the only athlete lucky enough to be coached by surf superstar, Graham Gentry.

Now in Ellsworth, Massachusetts, she's just Masyn, empty, angry, and on a mission to never surf again. That is until Tate Houghton latches on to her, and refuses to let go.

Tate has his own demons lurking at the bottom of the ocean. Demons that kept him from stepping foot on the sand for over five years until the night he pulls Masyn out of the ocean. In just one look it's clear that he and Masyn are the same. They're lost, they're hurting, they're disparaged, they're enticed by one another.

When the two find themselves on opposite sides of the teacher's desk at Wingate Forbes Academy, Tate becomes determined to help Masyn sort through her mistakes without becoming one himself, and Masyn worries that her secrets have already started coming back to haunt her.
