Das Orakel von Delphi steht PateDie Auseinandersetzung mit dem kollektiven Gedächtnis ist zentraler Bestandteil im Werk des Konzeptkünstlers Philipp Lachenmann (geb. 1963 in München; lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Los Angeles). In unterschiedlichen Medien und Materialien - von Malerei, Fotografie, Skulptur über Text, Sound und Installation bis hin zu Video, Film und computergenerierten Werken - untersucht er die Entstehungsbedingungen und Funktionsweisen von Bildern und die dadurch geschaffenen Konfrontationen, Abgründe und Bruchstellen in der Gesellschaft. Neben medialen Ereignissen blickt Lachenmann in seinen Arbeiten auf Kunstgeschichte und historische Ereignisse.Die Publikation DELPHI_Rationale nimmt die umfassende Einzelausstellung des Künstlers in der ACE Gallery in Los Angeles (2017) zum Ausgangspunkt.
