She had a name. The hospital called her Jane Doe 2026-001.

When Katrina "Kiki" Toussaint's mother disappears on New Year's Eve, the search leads to a nightmare: her mother died at Rapp Memorial Medical Center and was processed as an unidentified patient-despite having ID, despite having family, despite Kiki calling every hospital in New Orleans looking for her.

The hospital's explanation: "Unable to locate next of kin."

But investigative journalist Samantha Paul has seen this before. Her own sister vanished into the same system. Her research partner, J.C. Reedburg, lost his cousin to the same system twenty years ago. And nurse Shawna Robertson can't forget the bodies she's seen rushed through procurement with no consent, no notification, no consequences.

What they uncover is a pipeline built on erasure.

Vulnerable Black patients-homeless, uninsured, isolated-are marked for expedited organ procurement before families can arrive. Paperwork is falsified. Consent is manufactured. Organs are harvested to supply wealthy patients who've paid millions to skip the transplant waiting list.

The system has been perfecting this for 150 years.
