Hoc in volumine, Augustinus non solum methodum catecheticam explicat, sed etiam fundamenta theologica et pastoralia ad conversionem animorum necessaria praebet. Auctor momentum historiae salutis extollit, a creatione mundi usque ad praesentem ecclesiae aetatem, ut catechumenus intellegat caritatem Dei erga genus humanum.

Hic liber binas orationes exemplares continet, quae demonstrant quomodo praeceptor se accommodare debeat variis auditorum generibus, sive sint litterati sive indocti. Per sapientiam et caritatem, Augustinus docet quomodo taedium instruendi vincendum sit et quomodo gaudium in docendo servandum. Est fons perennis pro iis qui historiam ecclesiae, artem rhetoricam, et evolutionem educationis Christianae student. "De Catechizandis Rudibus Liber Unus" manet testimonium praeclarum de cura pastorali et de vi verbi divini in antiquitate christiana.
