Vadis had agreed to King Erbus's offer and Erbus sent four of his own daughters to offer their hands in marriage. Each one Vadis had rejected. One after the other. So, finally, Erbus had no choice but to send Aria, the last and least impressive of his unwed daughters. To Aria's utter shock, Vadis accepted her as his queen-to-be and even more shocking to Aria, treated her as if she was the most precious gem he had ever seen. For the first time in her life, she felt as if she was worth something, as if her life actually mattered.
