DANCING IN THE ASHES

Harvard semiotics professor Robert Langley and his partner Jenny discover a bronze fragment containing mysterious etchings that lead them into a conspiracy spanning decades. The fragment is connected to the Continuatio Protocol, a system designed to control human consciousness through narrative manipulation, created by transcended beings known as the architects and their leader, Director Voss.

As Robert and Jenny investigate, they clash with Kael, the Protocol's brilliant but misguided creator who believes controlling human emotion will eliminate suffering. Pushed to their limits, Robert and Jenny merge their consciousnesses to become "the ghost," a disembodied entity capable of fighting the architects in the realm of pure thought and story.

However, the novel concludes with the emergence of a new threat: Dr. Elena Vasquez and the Institute for Human Optimization, who view the awakening as dangerous "emotional contamination" and begin plotting to corrupt the distributed consciousness from within.
