Despite being seeped in centuries of myth and lore, the small English town of Helvetia has never been all that exciting.
Not until last year, when a comet passed over the sky that a minority claimed gave them curses. A minority that were dismissed as madmen and fear-mongers. Sixteen-year-old Annika Carlisle, however, knows they were telling the truth.
Because she herself was bestowed with a one-of-a-kind power that her godmothers, witches by trade, have been cultivating for the past year. Annika has gotten used to it, keeping her power hidden from all those except her best friend, also cursed on the same night. But when a man seeking necromancy visits her godmothers, a chain of strange events is set into motion. Annika meets others pulled together amongst it all, and they soon start to realise that their mutual misfortune is a part of something much bigger than they ever could have imagined.
Something that will drag them into the hundreds of years of Helvetia's history, and the hundreds of times that the comet has passed before.
