COVENANT

From the beginning of time, God has chosen to reveal Himself through the language of covenant-binding promises, unbreakable commitments, and relational loyalty that anchor the entire story of Scripture. Long before modern contracts, ancient peoples understood covenant as the most sacred form of commitment. Kings forged alliances, families created lasting bonds, and nations pledged loyalty through covenant rites that shaped identity, destiny, and hope.

The Bible enters this ancient world speaking a familiar language-but with a startling difference. Unlike the gods of the nations, the God of Israel initiates covenants not out of need, but out of love. He binds Himself to humanity with promises of blessing, presence, redemption, and relationship. From Eden to Noah, Abraham to Moses, David to the prophets, and ultimately to Jesus Christ, God's covenantal love forms the backbone of the entire biblical narrative.

This book explores that sweeping story. We begin in the ancient Near East-uncovering how covenants shaped society, politics, and religion. We then trace the biblical covenants one by one, watching God's plan unfold through history. Finally, we journey into the New Testament to behold the New Covenant Jesus inaugurated through His blood-a covenant that not only restores humanity to God, but secures an eternal relationship sealed forever in the kingdom to come.
