CONFESSIONS OF A PROVINCIAL

About this book

"Confessions of a un Provincial" is an autobiographical work or retrospective account in prose of my own existence, confessed with pleasant and fine humors, which will gradually captivate the reader's imagination, taking him on a journey through eighteen anecdotal accounts of stories, facts, events, tales and traditional sayings in the traditions of a provincial town, which will induce the reader to unplug from the multiple and complex daily enigmas of this intricate planet. It tries to inculcate values, virtues and positive actions from the experiences, anecdotes and antics of a character who transcends in his confidences that with equal diaphanousness and healthy mischief, anywhere in the world, could have happened to the same reader.
According to the murmurings of some old nuts and bolts, wise friends of yesterday and today, "Confessions of a Provincial" is a death trap with a spike and a spring to trap curious and sinful people with poisonous and double-edged tongues, so I begin by confessing to my readers that they will not find libidinous revelations in this book; therefore, and for the record, I make public the following sworn declaration: -"Today, after having travelled the greater part of the stretch of useful life, according to the Internal Revenue Service; of the period of time for which I was designed, according to the treating physicians, I have been suggested to be prepared and in the present state, better, to be confessed! There being no other way out and after a deep examination of conscience I decided to expose to the public light my own truths through a direct confession of my experiences and accounts of what I was, what I am and will continue to be. I swear that my confession will be made with courage and without fear of what others will say. Good or bad, I will confess everything I did, what was done to me, or what I failed to do. I will not hide my infidelities, because at this point in my life, where my hours are numbered, I must be prepared and ready to purge my faults. I will bravely go to my trial, without lawyers or public defenders. I will ask the magistrates not to pass sentence without first having read "Confessions of a Provincial" and I will also appeal to the Supreme Being, so that this book may be within the reach of the believing multitudes and the atheist multitudes, who have as much right to give their opinion as those tribunes appointed between cock and midnight, especially if it is the confessions of a provincial who was born, lived and shared with them, every one of their wanderings. Moreover, so that with this opportunity, they, as guilty as I am, may also repent in time and be able to obtain absolution from their confessor...".

The style of this book is otherwise straightforward, in a pleasant and spontaneous manner, steamed, with a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Its narration is open, uncomplicated, like when some of you make impertinent murmurings on Facebook pages, or a gossipy person spreads gossip, or like the classic sniping of friends on the park bench or in the old café on the corner, I leave it up to the interlocutor to imagine the events that took place and the supposition of the outcome of each story, while they manage to satisfy the morbid curiosity, which I hope to awaken in them with the indiscretions that a confession entails and on the simplicity of the native language and the slang that is used by a "provincial" without the need to profane it.
