"Confessions of a Born Again Catholic" by Daniel F. Wiegand is the book to read.

If you have a friend or loved one who has left the Catholic Church this book may help to bring them back. If you're a former Catholic or non-Catholic who has questioned the scriptural basis for Roman Catholicism, this book can answer those questions. If you're not familiar with the term "born again", don't worry. This book is definitely Catholic and has received the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur.

In this book you'll read how attorney author Daniel Wiegand confronted his doubts and questions about Catholicism and Christianity, explored the Bible, found all the proof he needed, and became a born again, Bible believing, Spirit filled Catholic Christian. You'll read about the Charismatic Renewal, how it has affected the author's life and the Church, and what Wiegand hopes and expects to see in the future.

In other chapters you will read about the scriptural basis for the various Mass parts, why the author believes the Mass is the most beautiful, complete, symbolic and scriptural form of Christian community worship; and how every Mass can be a more Spirit filled experience for you. You'll get a good overview of the scriptural basis (both Old Testament and New) for the Catholic understanding of the Eucharist. You'll find a discussion of the scriptural bases for many Catholic traditions, including some of the most controversial ones like purgatory, praying for the dead, relics, apparitions, the stigmata and the use of statues and images.

"Confessions of a Born Again Catholic" is well documented without being overwhelming, scholarly without being difficult, and honest and down to earth rather than high and mighty. This updated and expanded second edition of Confessions of a Born Again Catholic also covers much of what has happened in the Church, the Charismatic Renewal, and the world since 2011 when the first edition was published. It will be a blessing to Catholics and non-Catholics alike, even those who have already read the first edition.
