This book deconstructs androcentric approaches to spacetime inherited from western modernity. Drawing on autochthonous ontologies and epistemologies, the contributors restore a temporal connection and expand conceptions of space within and beyond the region through literary acts of archival disruption, radical remapping, and epistemic marronnage. This is named 'chronotropics'. Stemming from chronos (time) and tropos, "a turn," this term does not merely designate a tropical chronotope, but points to a vocation for social justice and collective healing. This pan-Caribbean volume proposes a poetics and politics of the chronotropics that envisions the Caribbean landscape and temporality as anticolonial, gender inclusive, pluralistic, and non-anthropocentric.
