In this fun and heartwarming picture book for fans of Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao, Chippy is desperate to satisfy his grumbling tummy and along the way learns that nourishment comes in many forms.
When Chippy first arrives at his Lola’s house for lunch, all he can think about is his rumbling tummy, but every time he is about to take a bite of the Filipino feast he is interrupted by a member of his large family. He desperately wants to eat but they just want to talk. As his lunch keeps getting delayed and his hunger mounts, Chippy feels like he’s going to explode! But as they keep talking and share memories, Chippy comes to understand food as a representation of his family’s culture and their love for each other.
