In some parts of the book, you may feel like the ultra-traditional leadership or management concept has long been surpassed, and you have sneaked into a platform from where you can view the same thing but from a very different angle.

One can get access to many books that are available in the market on management discipline that talk at length about decision making, leadership styles, and ethical standards among other aspects of management. Very unique from those books, though, the philosophy behind bringing out this one actually is to reveal how your own decision making leads you to all needed niche to remain confident in all circumstances. Unlike the generic books on management, this book does not discuss merely the principle of management or its schools of thoughts. Nor does this analyse or optimize redundancy on what has already been written by the renowned writers from around the globe. By contrast, the uniqueness about this book is that it emphasises more on the practical aspects of management and inner core of leaders (managers). The inner core which is always filled with virtuous ability is often adulterated by pollutants like greed, pride and anger. Ability of leaders to seal these pollutants from entering their minds prevents undue external influences and enables you (leader) to make a balanced thought in a normal situation as well as in a chaotic/extraordinary one giving rise to meritocratic practices.

My attempt, through this book, is to refresh leader's/managers' (and of course that of all readers) knowledge that they already acquire but often place in the backburner when driving the organisation (or leading a nation) presently or in the future. In every organisation (or in the governance mechanism), those in the driving seat, by default of their role, accept the unexpected all along, much more frequently than one could have imagined. The resultant pressure compels the leaders to place the wisdom gained through practical experience in the backburner. As a consequence, they tend to ignore from making use of fit-for-purpose wisdom even when it is badly needed in the real-life workplace, not even realising what opportunity cost they slip out of their hands.

Having experienced myself and observing many more leaders/managers in many organisations (and many political parties) of repute unable to reap the benefit of wisdom in challenging situation, I intended to unveil the strengths of meritocracy and make its upbeat available for leaders/managers to tackle the trying times most satisfyingly to themselves and those around them (in an organisation or country). This elevated understanding is founded not only on my theoretical management knowledge that I have studied in university, but also on wisdom I gained through practical experiences and lessons learned during my career with 5 international organisations over the course of 30 years, spanning Africa, Arab States, and Asia. I have always found wisdom genuinely triumphing over theoretical knowledge, and believe so will you do.
