Celebrate America! The Fight for Freedom

The Declaration of Independence has been signed, but America's fight for freedom has only begun. Louie finds himself swept into the danger, uncertainty and excitement of the American Revolutionary War. Traveling alongside his trusted companion, Phillip, he soon discovers that their journey is about far more than adventure. Together, they are carrying valuable messages and reports between military leaders, Patriots and friends of the American cause -- information that could help shape the fight for independence.

Along the way, Louie comes face-to-face with people he once knew only from the pages of history books. He witnesses George Washington's determination, encounters the young Marquis de Lafayette and discovers that the struggle for liberty depends not only on famous leaders, but also on ordinary men, women and children willing to make extraordinary sacrifices.

From the daring crossing of the Delaware River to the bitter hardships endured by soldiers and civilians, Louie begins to understand that winning independence will require courage, perseverance and sacrifice. He also discovers a world of secret messages, spies and unexpected heroes whose bravery often goes unnoticed.

For Louie, history is no longer something found in a book. It is happening all around him -- in the thunder of battle, the cold of a soldier's camp, the fear of families caught in the conflict and the determination of people who refuse to surrender their dream of freedom.

In Celebrate America! The Fight for Freedom, the second book in the Celebrate America! trilogy, young readers experience the American Revolution through Louie's eyes and discover that the birth of a nation depended on courage, sacrifice, hope -- and people willing to fight for the promise of liberty.
