This is the medieval journal of Tobias Burgess, a young page. What was it really like to live in a castle during the Middle Ages? This book gives the answer! Sent to his uncle's castle for a year to learn to be a page, ten-year-old Toby keeps a detailed journal of everything that happens there - from such great events as a boar hunt and a tournament to more everyday activities like baking bread and cleaning out the garderobes (toilets). The book also contains a reference section covering castle-building and use, armour and weapons, heraldry and the feudal system - plus a full glossary and index. For any child who loves castles, this is a must! The Middle Ages forms part of the programme of study for KS3 of the National Curriculum.
