Purpose of the Book
This book is aimed at students in the Natural Sciences and Engineering fields. Its struc-ture follows a progression from theory to practical examples in the C++ programming language. It can serve as a supplementary aid for programming courses taught in the early years of science degrees. For example, in the Department of Physics, the course is titled Computers I. If someone learns one programming language-or better yet, under-stands the concept of the algorithm-they can easily learn other programming lan-guages, with their initial language as a foundation.
For solving simple engineering problems, programming in traditional languages such as Fortran, Basic, Pascal, C++, or Java can often be time-consuming. Therefore, a scientist should also be familiar with one or more comprehensive programming packages such as MATLAB, MATHEMATICA, MATHCAD, and others.
We encourage science students, in addition to classical programming, to use one of the aforementioned programming packages.
