Brucellosis, worldwide the most important zoonosis and remains a major health problem. This bacterial pathogen is also classified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a category (B) pathogen that has the potential for development as a bioweapon. After tuberculosis, brucellosis is the most important bacterial disease of livestock in Bangladesh.
