BROKEN
Sebastian O'Reilly returns home after many years away to keep vigil as his father dies. He is surrounded by family, and the event should be a breeze. It is anything but.
Excerpt From a Scene at his Father's Hospital:
"Are you a relative she asked him?
"Yes, I'm his son."
"Mr. O'Reilly is in ICU", she said, "you can't go in right now. The doctor and nurse are with him. Your family", she said are in the family room just to the left. You can join them and wait there".
Once again, he paused in front of the doors pulled himself upright.
Pulled open the doors and walked through.
This is going to be hard, he thought.

KO Burt was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and grew up on the West side, Country Road area.
KO Burt left his home at age eighteen and never went back other than for visits, weddings, and funerals.

Excerpt PROLOGUE
"Broken," Sebastian declared. "The word conjures up images of something not made right, something that breaks before it's time". "Broken", that's what I've always been.
"I'm not sure when I started to take pride in being Broken, but I know it was so long ago, I can barely remember," he continued in a quiet, calm, almost Zen-like voice.
Meaghan nodded her head almost as if to agree with him, and then looked at him in that clinical, seemingly interested and yet completely detached way that so many had looked at him before.
"My family and friends, colleagues and lovers would be surprised to hear me call myself Broken."
Meaghan laughed softly. "Sebastian, you're not going to catch me off guard that easily remember I'm the one who put you in those chains".
Anger reared up in him almost instantly, as he lost all semblance of sanity. He thrust himself towards her with great force, all his weight against the cold, unyielding steel of his chains bringing him up short with a rattle and crash.He woke with a start, his head popping upright, causing a sharp pain to run down his neck.
Where am I?
Sebastian, hallucinating now, saw Dr. Mah as Meaghan. He had a mixture of bemusement and twisted love on his face. She's so beautiful, he thought. I can't wait until the moment that I snap the handcuffs on to her wrists. I can't wait to see the look on her face. She's so naive, so innocent, just perfect for my taste. He almost laughed out loud.
