Tonight, was supposed to be the biggest fight of my career. It shattered paid viewing pre-sale records in minutes. The Fight of the Decade, or so the media said. As the current heavyweight champion, it was my job to defend my title against the new blood. This kid got a spot in the organization because he has eight-million followers on social media. Cool. Good for him, right? I was okay with all of it... I was even happy for him. It's nice to see the organization coming into the modern age. It was great, until Brock, the voice of the organization, told me to lose the fight because it would be great for ratings.

Lose the fight? Hell no.

It's not like I don't have a massive and loyal social media following of my own, so I did the only reasonable thing in a situation like mine. I skipped the fight and went live to tell my story and explain why I'm leaving the MMA for good.

Just as I was rambling about not knowing what's in store for me, her question popped up. One simple question that cut through to my soul and changed my life.

"What would your sixteen-year-old self think?"

I started out wanting to be strong to protect my brother because he was bullied in school. That soon shifted to me training him and now he fights too, just in another weight class. Somewhere along the line I forgot why I started training. To protect people. Not to fight them.
