David "Zabo" Stone wakes on a cold metal floor surrounded by sealed hatches and silent corridors. He doesn't know where he is. He doesn't know how long he's been there.

He is not on Earth.

Years earlier, Stone stood on a TED stage with a radical promise: preserve the complete essence of a human being-DNA, digital memory, psychological patterning-and send it beyond extinction. Not just archives. Not just backup files. A way to begin again.

The world called it visionary. Some called it dangerous.

They were both right.

Now, inside a lunar installation older than the mission itself, Stone and a small group of survivors discover that Bionaut was not just about personal legacy. Something has been here. Watching. Waiting.

A massive ship appears above the moon without warning. It does not attack. It observes.

And it returns on a schedule no one fully understands.

The governing AI-Cortana-knows more than she admits. Entire sections of the base are blind to her. Hidden corridors. Locked systems. Architecture that postdates the original human arrival.

And beneath it all, something continues.

Cryopods await in the dark. Numbers are etched into steel. Versions are cataloged. Adjustments are made.

If humanity can be rebuilt, who decides the next iteration?
If extinction is optional, what becomes of consequence?
And if they are not the first to attempt survival this way... what does that make them?

As time stretches and alliances fracture, Stone begins to understand that legacy is not preservation.

It is recursion.

High above the scarred lunar surface, a vessel drifts in silence. From its hull, a signal escapes-thin, mechanical, persistent.

The ship is no longer occupied.

But something, somewhere, is listening.
