Believe

Miranda genuinely believed that she and Tucker were meant to be together. Her only hold out was his belief in God. It wasn't a casual thing with him, he was all in.
God was first and foremost in his life and that meant, yet again, she would be second. She had been second her entire life, second to her parent's profession. And there was one thing she knew for certain; she couldn't spend the rest of her life being second. She wanted, no needed to be first, especially with the person she was in love with.
That thought made her pause. Yes, she was in love with Tucker. She knew if she moved to Hope Springs that her heart would be lost to him. Her dreams told her that, even before she knew him, she knew he was going to capture her heart.
She had guarded her heart so carefully for all these years. Getting lost in her work so that she would not have to risk it. And she had been successful, until the moment she laid eyes on him in the emergency room.
But she had done it anyway. She moved to the one place where she knew her heart would be in danger of being hurt. So, now what did she do? She couldn't get into a relationship with someone she knew could not put her first. She knew that he would always put God first. Even though God was someone that you couldn't see, hear, or touch, he would put Him before her, someone that he could see, hear, and touch. How was she going to be able to settle for that?
Tucker sat out on his front porch early Friday morning. He was drinking his coffee and praying. He was having reservations about his relationship with Miranda. Well, just one reservation. She wasn't a Christian. How could he consider going into a relationship with someone who was not a Christian? Someone who did not believe the way he believed. The bible says we should not be unequally yoke with an unbeliever.
